Coatrol Privacy Policy

How Coatrol handles the local patrol records, observations, diary entries, and export files you create on your device.

1. Overview

Coatrol is an offline forest-patrol recordkeeping app. It lets you create a local profile, record observations and patrol sessions, save diary entries, attach optional observation photos, and export a copy of those records to your device.

This Privacy Policy explains the information handled by the app and your choices. By using Coatrol, you agree to this policy and confirm that you meet the applicable age requirement described below.

2. Information You Create and Keep on Your Device

Coatrol may process the content you choose to enter or create while using its local features. This can include the following:

Profile details For example, ranger name, station name, and region name.
Patrol records Route names, notes, start and end times, and patrol status.
Observation records Names, categories, counts, notes, dates, and optional photos you attach.
Diary entries Titles, content, links to patrol sessions, and creation dates.

This information is stored locally in Coatrol's on-device database and app storage. It is used only to provide the local features you choose to use.

3. No Uploading, Collection, or Sharing

Coatrol is designed to work offline. The app does not include an Internet permission and does not upload, transmit, sell, rent, disclose, or share your profile details, records, diary entries, photos, or export files with us or with third parties.

Coatrol does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, tracking technologies, or online accounts. We do not operate a server that receives the information you create in the app.

4. Local Export to Device Storage / SD Card

When you select Export all files, Coatrol creates an offline copy of your local profile, observation records, patrol sessions, diary entries, and any attached observation photos. The export may include JSON and CSV files, as well as copied photo files.

The files are saved only to your device's shared Documents storage, under Documents/ForestPatrolDiary/exports. On a device using removable storage, this location may be on or accessible through the device's SD card or other external storage. On Android 9 and lower, the app requests storage access only when it is needed to perform this export.

Coatrol does not send an export to us or to any other party. Because exported files are placed in shared device storage, other apps or people with access to that storage may be able to access them. You are responsible for protecting, moving, deleting, or sharing exported files and any SD card that contains them.

5. Your Choices and Control

You control the information entered into Coatrol. You may edit or delete local entries in the app where those controls are available. You may also delete exported files from your device's Documents storage or SD card at any time.

Uninstalling Coatrol generally removes app-private local data from the device. It does not necessarily remove files you previously exported to shared storage, so you should delete those files separately if you no longer want to keep them.

6. Children and Age Requirements

Children under 13

Coatrol is not designed for, directed to, or permitted to be used by children under 13. No person under 13 may create records, add photos, export data, or otherwise use the app. We do not knowingly collect, use, store on our systems, or share personal information from children under 13 because Coatrol does not transmit app data to us.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child under 13 has used Coatrol, please remove the app and any related local or exported files from the child's device. You may also contact the developer using the contact details in the app's Google Play listing.

Users aged 13 to the age of majority

Users who are at least 13 but have not reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction may use Coatrol only with the knowledge and, where required by law, the consent of a parent or legal guardian. They should not enter or export information that they are not permitted to handle or share.

7. Security

Coatrol keeps its working data locally on your device and does not transmit it over a network. However, no device or storage location is completely secure. Please protect your device, use appropriate screen-lock and storage protections, and take particular care with exported files and removable storage.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Coatrol's features or applicable requirements change. The updated policy will show a revised “Last updated” date. Please review it periodically before continuing to use the app.
